Ali Karakuyu

Ali Karakuyu is a London-based Associate Director in the insurance ratings department of Standard & Poor’s London office. Ali covers a broad range of non-life insurance and reinsurance companies. He is extensively involved in the credit analysis of Middle Eastern (re)insurance companies, Lloyd’s syndicates and the marine insurance sector.
He joined Standard & Poor’s in December 2006, having previously worked for another rating agency and held various actuarial positions in the U.K. Ali spent 9 years in insurance credit analysis with Standard & Poor’s and A.M. Best.
Before this he was in the actuarial profession which included 2 years at the U.K. Government Actuary’s Department and 2 years at the insurance broker firm Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
He is a former member of the Institute of Actuaries in the U.K.
He holds a BSc (Hons. First Class) degree in Actuarial science from the University of Kent at Canterbury.
