Ffion Flockhart is a dispute resolution lawyer and qualified Solicitor-Advocate based in London. She specialises in contentious insurance and reinsurance as well as policy review and drafting. Ffion’s clients range from large financial institutions and corporates to captives, insurers / reinsurers and Export Credit Agencies.

Her practice includes advising on financial risks, including Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers’ Liability and Crime/Fidelity risks. In this regard, Ffion has advised on some of the most high profile matters affecting the industry, including insurance claims arising out of Madoff, Lehmans and the Algosaibi fraud in the Middle East. She has also advised on a number of Directors and Officers’ Liability and Professional Indemnity claims arising out of the financial crisis, including those relating to high profile individuals and entities in the UK and beyond. On the non-contentious side, Ffion has advised on the policy wordings covering a number of large corporates and global financial institutions.

Ffion also specialises in cyber risks, which is an ever increasing problem for corporates, financial institutions and their insurers alike. She works on the coverage aspects of cyber risk claims as well as with our specialist IP/IT teams to provide a comprehensive crisis response service to mitigate the effects of an adverse cyber event.

Other aspects of Ffion’s practice include political risks and trade / credit risks, where she has worked on coverage claims in South America, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. She has conducted numerous policy reviews for clients and has a significant amount of experience in project specific policy drafting.

She also advises on warranty and indemnity insurance and has provided coverage advice on a number of claims, both on the buy-side and the sell-side.

Ffion is a recognised expert in the field of Takaful (Islamic insurance). She has advised on and drafted bespoke takaful policies for a range of classes of business and has advised takaful clients on coverage disputes in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Ffion frequently speaks at industry events such as the World Takaful Conference and the International Takaful Summit and has written a number of articles in the industry press. Together with Susan Dingwall, her work to promote the practice has contributed to us being awarded Best Takaful Law Firm by the Middle East Business Forum each year since the inception of the awards in 2008.
