A Welcome Message
From: Dato' Dr. Adnan Alias, MD & CEO, IBFIM

I take this opportunity to welcome you to the City of London. On behalfof the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), we are proud to present you the International TAKAFUL Summit 2007: 'Global Partnership - Raising Standards and Creating Values' at the Langham Hotel, London on 1 & 2 November 2007
.

Globalisation of Takaful

The global Takaful market is growing fast amid relentless efforts of the governments, the industry, the scholars and the regulators. With a facilitative regulatory framework and a core group of experts in place, it is ready to move on to the next phase, and that is to offer more products and services that meet all the Shariah requirements any where in the world.

As Takaful industry is expected to do more in areas such as: capacity; expertise; credibility; investment avenues; marketing; and product innovation, the focus on customer awareness and understanding is still very relevant.

The International Takaful Summit 2007 (ITS 2007) is part of an important agenda for IBFIM to deliver knowledge and create awareness on Islamic finance internationally. Building upon our highly successful events which were held in Kuala Lumpur, we are proud to host this prestigious event in London this year as part of our commitment to address the specific needs of the Takaful players in this part of the world.

Our long and tested experience in Islamic finance ensures that you will attend a complete convention that can be appreciated at many different levels. Our track record ensures that we bring together the most respected and prominent individuals in Takaful to discuss and debate the shape of the industry with their counterparts from around the world.

Theme

The theme selected for this inaugural Summit reflects the dynamic pace of Takaful growth. Hence the need for global partnership is obvious. Partnership between conventional and Islamic insurance is vital, so are the partnerships among players of different sectors such as banking, capital market, regulatory authorities and professional support services. Through this partnership, standards become an imperative in ensuring smoothe, holistic forward movement.   In the process, values are created to lend meaning to this cobweb of partnership.

The summit is international in scope and attendance, with presentations on the latest developments at the strategic, operational as well as regulatory levels. The summit also serves as a forum for the advancement of knowledge on Takaful and Retakaful.

We believe that ITS 2007 will be a rewarding experience to all delegates and we hope you enjoy this convivial occasion.

Thank you.
