“ICMIF is firmly committed to supporting the development of Takaful schemes in Muslim and Non-Muslim countries at all levels of society.”

In October 2002, the ICMIF Board of Directors approved the notion that the principles of Takaful are in line with the cooperative and mutual philosophy. The board recommended ICMIF should support the development of the Takaful sector and increase awareness of the cooperative and mutual form.

In addition, the board noted that the modern form of Takaful encompassed several types of structures reflecting the various schools of thought, regulations and environment. The most prominent Takaful model in existence today is a hybrid of the mutual and stock company. Subsequently the board agreed to review membership applications from Takaful companies on a case by case basis with emphasis on the management philosophy and focus on policyholder welfare. visit http://www.icmif.org/services/takaful/welcome.asp

Asia Insurance Review was launched in January 1991 to meet the information needs of insurance practitioners in Asia in particular and the rest of the world in general. It quickly became the premier and comprehensive professional regional magazine, read by all the key decision makers and readers in the insurance industry in Asia from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.

As part of our growth process, and in response to the demands of readers, we went into organising insurance-related conferences to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and to facilitate the transfer of technology to the region. Very quickly the Asia Insurance Review’s technical conferences became an integral service to the Asia’s insurance industry.

Together with The Review Worldwide, we launched the Asia Insurance Industry Awards to recognise and salute excellence in the insurance industry since 1997. We also launched the Australia and New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards in 2004. These are our conscious attempts to promote the industry's move towards higher standards and greater professionalism.

MiddleEast Insurance Review (MIR), launched on 1 September 2006, aims to meet the information needs of insurance practitioners in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and the global takaful industry.
