Kazi Mohammad Mortuza Ali, MCom, LLB, now serving as  Director General of Bangladesh Institute for Professional Development (BIPD) and Chief Consultant of Prime Islami Life Insurance Limited (PILIL). He is a qualified  Associate  of  Chartered Insurance  Institute  (ACII)  London and also  a  graduate in “Professional shipping”  from Norwegian  Shipping Academy Oslo. He served as CEO of Prime Islami Life Insurance Limited (PILIL), Dhaka during 2002 to 2015.  He was Director (CEO) of Bangladesh Insurance Academy during 1995-2002.  Before joining  the  Insurance Academy he served Bangladesh Shipping Corporation during 1974 to 1995 in different positions, including GM (Operation) DGM (marketing & Research) &A.G.M.(Insurance & Claims). Mr. Ali started his carrer as a Banker with Habib Bank Ltd of Pakistan and subsequently served Agrani Bank Ltd during 1970-1974.

He served as specialist member of the “Committee” formed by the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh for reforming Insurance law and enacting new laws. He served  also  as  Member  of  the  “Committee”  formed  by  the  Honorable  President’s Secretariat  of the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh to investigate an alleged “Marine Insurance Claim & Maritime Fraud”. Mr. Mortuza Ali has provided Consultancy Service under ADB project and WHO project as “Insurance Regulatory Specialist” and “Social health insurance consultant”.

He received several nationals and international awards including S.K. Desai Award from  Insurance Institute of India, received World Leader Business Person Bizz Award 2013, 2014 & 2015 fromWORLDCOB, Texas, U.S.A. and Best Manager Award from Europe Business Assembly(EBA), U.K. 2013. He secured first prize of FAIR international essay competition in 2010.

He has been appointed as the member of Governance and Ethics Committee of the Board of Accounting and Auditing Organization For Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) based in Manama, Bahrain and member of the Development committee of International Co-operative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF), London.

Mr. Ali is also independent director with several organizations namely Prime Finance & Investment Ltd., Prime Finance Capital Management Limited and Usmania Glass Sheet Factory Ltd.
