The International Takaful Summit Returns To The UK For Its 9th Instalment
After a two year absence from London the Takaful industry returns to the UK’s capital this February in the 9th edition of the International Takaful Summit.
Buoyed by an increasing interest in the UK’s Takaful business and the government’s reaffirmation of their commitment to Islamic Finance, and in conjunction with planned launch of a number of Takaful initiatives in Europe, the organisers felt that this was the right time to bring the series back to its place of birth for its 2015 chapter.
“We have been justified in bringing the International Takaful Summit back to the UK considering the substantial support that we have received from participants” said Randa Buaras, PR & Marketing Manager at Afkar Consulting. She added, “Unlike some industry events, our commitment to the Takaful industry goes beyond commercial interest; we aim to serve the Takaful community by finding solutions to the most pressing issues challenging the market. The Summit will be held at London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel from the 17th – 18th February and will feature the International Takaful Awards. Launched in 2008 the Awards remain the only dedicated recognition of excellence in Takaful and in the ancillary services that support the industry. This year’s ceremony will take place on the evening of the 17th of February and will again recognise the pioneers in the industry from all corners of the globe. With the nomination process open, companies still have the chance to apply and be considered for these prized accolades.
The event features more than 35 internationally renowned speakers to discuss the potential improvements in the current Takaful model under this year’s theme – Rethinking the Takaful Model: A New Approach for the Retakaful Industry. “After four decades of Takaful provision many challenges have emerged which need to be addressed. The 9th International Takaful Summit is dedicated to critically evaluating the dominant current Takaful model.” stated Iqbal Asaria CBE, Managing Director of Afkar Consulting. He added, “The Summit will also look at provision of Takaful for large commercial risks. This will require a further adaptation to the present Takaful model which at present primarily caters to personal lines and some family Takaful products. We at the 9th International Takaful Summit will continue our role as thought leaders for the global Takaful community.”
