Prof. Dr. Shahinaz Rashad Abdellatif – President at the Egyptian Leasing Association and Executive Director at Metropolitan Training Academy & Metropolitan Consulting

Dr Shahinaz is a founder and a Board member of several associations as well as the President for the Egyptian Leasing Association (ELA), which is the sole specialized association that includes the majority of bank related, independent and captive companies in charge of leasing/Ijara and Sukuk Ijara issuances in Egypt.

Dr Shahinaz currently works as the Vice Chairman for Metropolitan Consulting (S.A.E.) and Executive Director for Metropolitan Training Academy (MTA) respectively. Metropolitan was inaugurated in California, U.S.A in 2000 and opened its office in Cairo, Egypt in 2008.  The company is a regional financial intermediary and a financial/credit advisor for several financial products such as Islamic Banking and Ijara syndications, Sukuk issuance, project finance, venture capital and private equity transactions across the MENA region. Metropolitan Training Academy®, which is the training and research arm of Metropolitan Consulting (S.A.E.), is specialized in Islamic banking and non-banking areas.

She originally worked at the International Company for Leasing “Incolease” as A. Vice President and a General Manager for Upper Egypt for Leasing “UELease” for almost 15 years. Her main responsibility was to manage multiples of Million lease portfolio for both corporate and SMEs clients as well as arranged syndications with prominent banks and other leasing companies across several sectors.

She also has more than 15 years of experience as a senior trainer and instructor for several reputable universities and training institutions including The American University In Cairo (AUC), The German University In Cairo (GUC), Ecole Supérieure Libre Des Sciences Commerciales Appliqué  (ESLSCA) Business School,  Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport and the Egyptian Business Institute (EBI). Finally, she supervised and published several research papers in the Management, Marketing and Finance disciplines.                                                    

Dr Shahinaz has years of experience in Islamic banking and non-banking training.

She represents her company and association as a speaker in major events and in several academic Journals and international publications (Business Week, Herald Tribune and Euromoney World Leasing Convention and yearbook). Currently, her main research interest is in the marketing of Islamic financial services across the Middle East.

Dr Shahinaz is originally a graduate of, the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt, and Bachelor of Arts in 1998 with Highest Honors. She holds both a Diploma in Banking and Finance, as well as a Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) from the American University in Cairo. Also, she got a Masters degree in Business Administration with distinction and a specialization in Marketing from Heriot Watt University, UK. She obtained her Doctorate degree in Business Administration “D.B.A” from AASTMT in conjunction with University of Wales in Islamic Finance in 2008.

Finally, she obtained a Diploma in Islamic Finance (Cert. IF) and Advanced Diploma in Islamic Finance (CADIF) from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) (2010-2012) and in the process of obtaining Post Graduate Diploma at the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI).
