Lovingly referred to as the Godfather of ethnic media, Javed Husain made his name co-founding one of the first ethnic marketing agencies in the UK, Mediareach Advertising.

Javed Husain was born in Lucknow India and arrived on UK shores in 1984 to pursue further education. A creative powerhouse with over 25 years of experience in the sector, he has carved a status within the ethnic marketing sector for pioneering innovative marketing campaigns targeting the many multi-ethnic communities which now call Britain their home.
Graduating in Economics and Commerce in 1985 he was one of the first Asians in the UK to complete a post-graduate in Advertising and PR, leading to a plethora of work on the international media markets. Driven by innovation and a passion for marketing, Javed helped to create Mediareach in 1987.

Media Reach is now a market leader in multicultural marketing covering the UK and Europe.  His passion, insight and attention to detail has helped him to deliver tailor made, integrated marketing campaigns for clients including the British Heart Foundation, UK Diabetes, Islamic Relief and the NSPCC; all trying to engage hard-to-reach multi-ethnic communities.
Under Javed’s inspired leadership as Creative Director, big-name ethnic, blue-chip and public sector clients brands have seen turnovers of over £2 billion and significant engagement and awareness amongst multi-ethnic audiences. Clients include British Telecom, World Gold Council, Rank Hovis, Pride oils, Alliance and Leicester, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Tata Telecom, Sony TV, B4U, Star TV, Tilda Rice, Premier Foods and Noon Plc.  

His passion for creativity drew him to the first Asian fashion catwalks in the early 90's. Seeing a need for change, Javed helped to influence the inclusion of Asian models onto the catwalks of London and Paris as well as the cover of Vogue.
Showing no signs of slowing down, 2010 has seen him advising the London Olympics 2012 committee, the Greater London Authority and numerous UK Government departments on multiculturalism.

He has being nominated for numerous awards such as Media Man of the Year, and recently won The Lloyds TSB Jewel Award for Entrepreneur Excellence 2009.

As a veteran of the media and business world, Javed now dedicates his Fridays to coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs and business leaders in their development. Whether it be advising established businesses in taking the next step or encouraging the new generation of entrepreneurs onto the business ladder, Javed’s ambition is to share his experience and help create the next generation of business pioneers. 

Javed is also a regular visiting lecturer on multiculturalism and advertising at various Universities, conferences and seminars. He recently spoke at the Oxford University’s Said Business School on the changing role of the media and Islamic branding.

Javed is essentially a chef at heart; giving him another avenue to flex his creative muscle. He loves nothing more in his spare time than entertaining friends and family with spectacular dishes, of course, with the inclusion of innovative twists that bring tradition, innovation and creativity together, just as he does in business.
