Shahril Azuar Jimin was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Takaful Berhad in 2010. Shahril, who is concurrently the Chief Sales Office of Etiqa, will be helming the biggest takaful operator in Malaysia with immediate effect.

Shahril has more than 15 years of commercial and strategic planning experience having held various management positions prior to his current post, including Executive Vice President / Head, Corporate Planning & Strategy of Etiqa, where he had direct responsibility over corporate strategy, international business, and corporate communications for the group.

Prior to that, Shahril was Assistant Vice President for Corporate Development in Takaful Nasional Berhad. Apart from formulating strategies, business plans, strategic development and directions for the company, he also planned and executed overseas marketing ventures, resulting in the first investment by a Malaysian financial institution into Pakistan.

He was also the Program Management Office Manager in the merger exercise of Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad, Malaysia National Insurance Berhad and Takaful Nasional Berhad, in 2005. In this capacity, he was responsible to manage and coordinate all merger efforts including reviewing and merging the different strengths in insurance and takaful and combined them into the new Etiqa brand.

Shahril graduated with an LL.B (Hons) in 1990 and he has also been a speaker in various conferences including the ASEAN Insurance Congress, the Asian Business Forum Seminar on Mergers and Acquisitions, the 2nd International Takaful Summit in London and the 4th International Convention on Takaful & Retakaful in Kuala Lumpur.

He has delivered presentation on topics such as "Rebranding as a Tool for Corporate Transformation in a Takaful Environment ", "Ethical Positioning in Insurance & Takaful", "Lessons on Consumer Focus and Branding" and many more industry relevant topics.
